In case you are wondering, I am no relation to the author of ClickRepair, and I paid for my copy! It is still worthwhile playing with the settings and listening to the results while setting it up though. This can be worked around by processing with the sound turned off. It refuses to continue, but can still be stopped and restarted from the beginning (without losing the settings). I have found one bug in the Linux version - sometimes processing stops when the sound is turned on to listen to samples.

Until recently, I was running Clickrepair under *******, but now (at last!) I have it running on my new PC under Ubuntu. If you want the best results, you need to experiment with different settings, often for each LP. There is a learning curve for ClickRepair, don't expect to master it in one hour. The results are, in my opinion, excellent. I find it takes up to 1/2 hour to process an LP, sometimes more in a bad case. This way the repairs are completely undetectable. This way the start and finish points for the worst clicks can be adjusted manually before making the repair.

It is equally useable by Apple Mac or Windows users.

I find it best to set "automatic" to around 80 or 90. i usually use click repair to restore my records.i cant get click repair at this time because the owner wants to update his website. ClickRepair is a program for locating and repairing damage due to scratches, dust specks, etc. ClickRepair is brilliant at correcting faults, but not so good at selecting the best start and finish point for each repair. Don't expect to let it run on fully automatic if you want first class results.

I have found, though, that it is best to use some manual intervention unless you have a really pristine LP. With care, all trace of clicks can be removed, the sound is clearer, and there is no loss of brilliance. The French Manual has also been updated by Philippe Bonin.I have been running ClickRepair for several years now, and I have used it to process the sound from approaching 100 LPs. I Mount Point 1 Not mounted Capacity 1 650 MB (650006528 Bytes) '. The manual has been expanded as a result of these changes.

Visual feedback has been updated to allow the user to simultaneously monitor the operations of declick, decrackle, and pitch detection. However, the maximum sensitivity (100) remains unchanged, for the benefit of users with older material. The detection and repair algorithms have been improved – with the new version it is much more likely that marginal and/or false repairs will amount to minor changes.įollowing user feedback, the sensitivity settings have been re-defined, with the new numbers (0–100) corresponding to lower sensitivity than in version 1.3.2. Both of these restrictions have been removed. The previous method for shellac (78) material involved both pre-mixing and post-filtering.

The previous method for mono material, which simply pre-mixed to a single data stream, is replaced by independent treatment of the channels, followed by an automatic merge. There is a new algorithm for protection of brass instruments and other highly pitched material. The previous method of processing each channel as a single stream are still available as an option (with some improvements to the algorithms). There is a new processing method which splits the audio data (in each channel) into two streams, using the theory of wavelets. ClickRepair is not a noise filter it searches for, and repairs, localized damage. Another strong recommendation - when exporting the temporary WAV files for processing in ClickRepair export as 32-bit float, ClickRepair will work on them as such and will produce 32-bit float files for reimport into Audacity. This kind of intermittent noise is typically the result of damage due to scratches, dust specks, etc. Note that ClickRepair is not a vinyl audio capture tool - it can only help improve recordings once you've got the audio saved onto hard disk. ClickRepair is an application for cleaning clicks and crackle from audio files produced by digitizing vinyl (LP) and shellac (78) records.

Some of the changes will be obvious (to existing users) from the interface. ClickRepair is a small application that tries to help you restore the sound archived from old records made from either vinyl or shellac. Version 2.0.1 (build 33c) released September 21, 2006:ĬlickRepair 2 is greatly changed and enhanced compared to the previous version 1.3.2. Version 2.0.2 (build 33d) released October 21, 2006:įixed bug which could cause processing to stall in some exceptional circumstances.
